Test engineer

Context

An independent Belgian federal administration is modernizing its core case management platform through the ambitious eDossier transformation program. The Test Engineer will define and implement a comprehensive quality strategy for a modern cloud-native architecture, ensuring secure, scalable and reliable software delivery until at least the end of 2028.

Responsibilities

Define and maintain the overall testing strategy.
Design and implement an Agile test plan.
Automate software testing wherever possible.
Develop and maintain API, UI and End-to-End test suites.
Validate business logic across APIs and microservices.
Perform functional, integration, regression and security testing.
Execute performance, stress and load testing.
Integrate automated tests into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
Implement monitoring and observability practices.
Participate actively in Agile ceremonies.
Collaborate closely with software engineers, analysts and business stakeholders.
Contribute to continuous quality improvement across the delivery lifecycle.

Technical skills

Must have

10+ years of experience as Test Engineer (Expert level)
Higher education degree in Computer Science (EU recognized)
Experience with cloud-native software testing
Azure Cloud experience
Test automation expertise
API testing experience
UI testing using Cypress
API testing tools (preferably Bruno)
Performance testing (JMeter, Gatling)
TDD experience
Java SE / Java 10+
Python
JavaScript
Bash and/or PowerShell
CI/CD integration (preferably Azure DevOps)
Contract testing, mocking and service virtualization
End-to-End testing
Security testing
Monitoring & Observability (preferably Grafana)
Maven
NoSQL databases
Agile delivery experience
Strong communication skills
Good English and good Dutch or French
