IT Team Leader & Transition manager

Context

A leading European energy infrastructure organization is looking for a senior Team Leader & Transition Manager to join its IT Architecture organization. The consultant will guide the Solution Architecture team while leading the transition toward a new operating model that merges Architecture and Product teams within approximately three months. The role will also contribute to the Enterprise Architecture team by helping establish governance, decision-making principles and a sustainable architecture operating model.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the target architecture operating model together with the existing teams and Enterprise Architecture stakeholders.
  • Establish governance principles and decision-making frameworks.
  • Clarify roles, responsibilities and interfaces between Product, Architecture and Delivery teams.
  • Drive and monitor the transition plan while ensuring continuity of delivery.
  • Ensure rapid implementation of the target operating model.
  • Identify and remove organizational, process and stakeholder blockers.
  • Facilitate the integration of Architecture and Product teams.
  • Build trust and collaboration between teams and accelerate adoption of new ways of working.
  • Create momentum and team cohesion during the transition.
  • Ensure the merged organization becomes operational, effective and self-sustaining within the transition period.
  • Provide leadership with regular progress updates and pragmatic recommendations.
  • Manage the workforce of Solution Architects across projects, products and other digital initiatives.
  • Manage architecture requests and Solution Architect assignments.
  • Maintain assignments within the PPM tool SciForma.
  • Participate in the IT Architecture steering group.
  • Implement standardized Solution Architecture deliverables.
  • Establish and enforce quality controls within the Solution Architecture team.
  • Monitor Solution Architecture activities and manage operational alerts and issues.
  • Act as a facilitator between strategic architecture vision and operational execution.

Technical skills

Must have

  • More than 10 years of experience in transition management and project management.
  • Strong experience with IT processes and architecture methodologies.
  • Knowledge of standards and methodologies such as ITIL, TOGAF, ArchiMate and Domain-Driven Design.
  • Experience with cloud-native architecture patterns.
  • Ability to promote and enforce reference architectures.
  • Knowledge of Microservices Architecture.
  • Knowledge of Event-Driven Architecture.
  • Familiarity with Gartner architecture frameworks such as TIME for Application Portfolio Management.
  • Experience with architecture modelling tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect or equivalent.
  • Ability to work autonomously and proactively engage stakeholders at different organizational levels.
  • Strong result-oriented mindset.
  • Strong collaboration and team-player mindset.
  • Very good presentation and communication skills.
  • Good command of English and Dutch and/or French.
  • Ability to work on-site in Brussels approximately two days per week.
  • For non-EU consultants working in Belgium, a valid Belgian work permit and residence permit are required.

Should have

  • Experience leading or coordinating teams of Solution Architects.
  • Strong Enterprise Architecture and Solution Architecture background.
  • Experience translating architecture strategy into operational actions.
  • Experience defining architecture governance and decision-making models.
  • Experience managing organizational and stakeholder dependencies during transformations.
  • Experience managing architecture capacity, requests and assignments across multiple digital initiatives.

Nice to have

  • Experience within the Energy & Utilities sector.
  • Experience with mergers, organizational integrations or similar transformation initiatives.
  • Real-world experience architecting, designing and delivering IT products in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with SciForma or comparable Project and Portfolio Management tools.
