System Administrator (Security & Infrastructure)

Context

The organization is looking for a hands-on Infrastructure / DevOps Engineer to deploy, maintain and improve an on-premises open-source infrastructure supporting Incident Response operations. The role combines Linux systems administration, infrastructure automation, observability, SIEM operations, container management, certificate lifecycle management and deployment of supporting open-source technologies.

Responsibilities

Deploy and maintain Elastic SIEM on-premises.
Build and maintain log ingestion pipelines using Vector or Elastic Agent.
Deploy and maintain Prometheus and Grafana.
Configure Prometheus monitoring and alerting rules.
Build visualization dashboards and graphs with Grafana.
Manage multiple Linux systems using Ansible AWX playbooks.
Maintain the AWX environment deployed on a Kubernetes-based master server.
Perform operating system updates and address infrastructure scalability requirements.
Manage and maintain Docker containers, volumes, networks and configuration files.
Generate and manage local TLS and mutual TLS client certificates.
Ensure certificate lifecycle management and timely notification of clients using open-source tools.
Configure and manage reverse proxies including Caddy and Nginx.
Deploy and manage SQL databases such as PostgreSQL and PGAdmin.
Configure and manage mail agents such as MSMTP and Postfix.
Deploy and manage additional open-source tools supporting Incident Response operations.
Document technical progress and decisions to maintain reproducible operations.
Provide concise and regular progress updates.

Technical skills

Must have

Strong hands-on experience administering Linux systems.
Experience deploying and maintaining SIEM or logging technologies.
Experience with Elastic on-premises environments or directly transferable Elastic infrastructure skills.
Experience with log ingestion pipelines using Vector, Elastic Agent or comparable tooling.
Experience with Prometheus and Grafana.
Experience creating monitoring rules and alerts with Prometheus.
Experience creating dashboards and visualizations with Grafana.
Experience with Ansible / Ansible AWX.
Experience managing Docker containers, volumes and networks.
Experience managing TLS certificates and mutual TLS certificates.
Experience configuring reverse proxies such as Nginx or Caddy.
Experience deploying or administering PostgreSQL or equivalent SQL databases.
Ability to work with open-source infrastructure technologies.
Ability to document work and maintain reproducible configurations.
Reliable, disciplined and autonomous working approach.
Ability to communicate blockers, access issues and technical constraints proactively.
English minimum B1 CEFR, spoken and written.

Should have

Hands-on experience deploying Elastic on-premises.
Hands-on experience with several technologies included in the target infrastructure stack.
Strong troubleshooting and infrastructure investigation skills.
Ability to identify pragmatic technical improvements beyond minimum requirements.
Ability to work independently while respecting agreed technical and organizational decisions.

Nice to have

Experience deploying Request Tracker IR on-premises.
Experience managing systems in an academic environment.
Elastic certifications.
Kibana certifications.
French minimum B2 CEFR, spoken and written.
