Senior Data Engineer

Context

The organization is strengthening its Customer & Servicing domain to support a growing data ecosystem and increasing reliance on analytics, reporting, Microsoft Fabric and data-driven decision-making. The Senior Data Engineer / Data Engineering Lead will design and operate reliable, scalable and maintainable data products and interfaces while establishing strong engineering practices. The role will improve data quality, pipeline reliability and operational stability while enabling BI, Analytics and Data Science teams to consume trusted and consistent data.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain robust data pipelines and integrations across operational systems, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft Fabric and downstream analytics platforms.
  • Gather, consolidate and prepare data for BI, Analytics and Data Science teams.
  • Develop and maintain Data Lake, Data Warehouse and Data Mart architectures.
  • Design scalable incremental data loading strategies.
  • Define data engineering standards, design patterns and best practices.
  • Ensure data solutions are maintainable, scalable, secure and aligned with enterprise architecture principles.
  • Implement data quality controls and validation mechanisms.
  • Establish monitoring, observability and alerting for data pipelines and interfaces.
  • Implement error handling, recovery and restartability mechanisms.
  • Improve the operational reliability of production data products.
  • Assess the impact of application changes and releases on downstream data consumers.
  • Contribute to data contracts between source systems and analytics platforms.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical data solutions.
  • Support reporting, analytics and data science initiatives with trusted datasets.
  • Produce technical specifications and solution documentation.
  • Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Develop monitoring dashboards, reports and operational metrics where required.
  • Act as a reference point for data engineering practices within the domain.
  • Coach developers and analysts on data engineering principles and best practices.
  • Promote engineering excellence, automation and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the long-term data architecture roadmap.
  • Support deployment, testing, quality assurance and project setup activities.
  • Collaborate with Data, Architecture and Governance teams.

Technical skills

Must have

  • Minimum 5 years of Data Engineering experience or experience in a similar role.
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent through professional experience.
  • Strong SQL skills with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Strong Python development skills with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Experience with Spark, Hive or similar big data technologies, including at least 4 years with Hadoop-related technologies as specified.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS data platforms, with at least 5 years of cloud technology experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, Data Factory or equivalent cloud data platforms.
  • Strong ETL/ELT and data integration experience.
  • Experience designing and operating production-grade analytics and data platforms.
  • Experience designing reliable data pipelines and analytics interfaces.
  • Experience implementing monitoring, observability and operational support mechanisms.
  • Strong understanding of data quality management.
  • Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps principles applied to data platforms.
  • Experience in large-scale enterprise environments with multiple stakeholders.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with Agile methodologies.
  • Professional proficiency in English.
