Scrum master

Context

The Scrum Master acts as the agile catalyst for the squad, promoting Scrum principles, fostering collaboration, removing impediments, and enabling the team to deliver maximum value. The role supports agile excellence, continuous improvement, self-organization, and alignment between delivery objectives and business priorities within a large-scale Agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies (Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives).
  • Ensure proper adoption and application of Scrum practices.
  • Remove impediments impacting team delivery.
  • Support the Product Owner in managing and refining the Product Backlog.
  • Assist the squad in achieving Sprint Goals and Definition of Done.
  • Track team capacity, velocity, and delivery progress.
  • Coach team members and stakeholders on Agile principles.
  • Foster continuous improvement and self-organization.
  • Protect the team from external disruptions.
  • Promote Agile best practices across the organization.
  • Coordinate and manage cross-squad dependencies.
  • Identify delivery risks and define mitigation actions.
  • Track and prioritize issue resolution.
  • Support roadmap alignment and sprint execution monitoring.

Technical skills

Must have

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant Scrum Master or Agile experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Agile methodologies and techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of Scrum and Kanban frameworks.
  • Experience with delivery management.
  • Knowledge of Agile reporting and tracking tools such as Jira.
  • Understanding of automated testing and continuous integration tooling.
  • Sound knowledge of software development methodologies.
  • Sound knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Strong coaching and facilitation skills.
  • Fluent English and proficiency in either Dutch or French.

Should have

  • Experience working in large organizations.
  • Ability to manage cross-team dependencies.
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Experience driving Agile transformation and maturity.

Nice to have

  • Experience in complex enterprise IT environments.
  • Exposure to multiple Agile frameworks.
  • Knowledge of DevOps-related practices and tooling.
