Senior Project Manager

Context

Our client is undertaking a multi-year digital transformation programme to modernise its IT and Data environment, optimise business processes and strengthen internal capabilities.

The programme is led by the Head of Transformation, supported by IT, Data and PMO Managers, a Business Partner / Functional Analyst and an Architecture Review Board (ARB).

We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager – Digital Transformation & Delivery to lead complex transformation initiatives, ensure successful project execution and contribute to the overall transformation roadmap.

The successful candidate will work closely with business, IT, Data and operational stakeholders while respecting established governance and decision-making structures.

Responsibilities

Lead and deliver complex digital transformation projects from initiation through operational handover.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery within agreed scope, budget, quality and timelines.
Coordinate business, IT, Data teams and external suppliers.
Manage project risks, dependencies, resources and competing priorities.
Anticipate delivery challenges, propose pragmatic solutions and escalate issues when appropriate.
Collaborate closely with operational managers, the PMO, Business Partner and Architecture Review Board.
Ensure accurate project reporting and compliance with programme governance.
Apply established PMO methodologies and project delivery standards.
Contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery practices.
Exercise effective cross-functional leadership while respecting governance boundaries and managerial accountabilities.

Technical skills

Must have

Minimum 10 years of experience managing complex IT projects.
Proven experience delivering digital transformation projects.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects within matrix organisations.
Advanced IT project management and risk management capabilities.
Advanced knowledge of business process management and Cloud transformation.
Expert-level stakeholder management skills.
Strong understanding of both business and IT environments.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams without hierarchical authority.
High professional maturity, autonomy, accountability and sound judgement.
Excellent interpersonal communication, diplomacy and conflict management skills.
Ability to challenge stakeholders constructively while respecting governance and decision-making responsibilities.
Pragmatic, structured and solution-oriented approach to delivery.

Should have

Experience contributing to transformation programmes and broader delivery roadmaps.
Programme management experience.
Experience working with IT, Data, operational teams and external suppliers.
Experience in public-sector environments.
Ability to operate effectively within established PMO and architecture governance structures.

Nice to have

PRINCE2 or PMI certification.
Agile project management knowledge or experience.
ITIL knowledge.
