Functional Analyst

Context

You will join the AnalySD team within the Business Area Commercial Channels & Products, the IT partner of the Marketing & Sales Directorate of the Belgian Railways. This area manages all sales channels, including website, mobile app, cash desks, ticket vending machines, onboard sales, and B2B channels. The role contributes to the digital transformation of SNCB–NMBS by delivering innovative solutions that enhance customer experience and support the ambitious goals of Spoor Vision 2040 for sustainable, modern mobility .

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and document requirements, objectives, and processes .

  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications and user stories .

  • Work closely with development teams to ensure alignment between solutions and business needs .

  • Define priorities with stakeholders and challenge them towards optimal solutions .

  • Assist in test planning, execution of UAT, and defect resolution .

  • Provide guidance and support to developers and project teams .

  • Safeguard solution and enterprise architecture in collaboration with architects .

  • Proactively flag bottlenecks and propose alternative solutions .

  • Present deliverables (process analyses, functional scenarios, documentation) to stakeholders .

Technical skills

Must have

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience as a Business/Functional Analyst .

  • Strong proficiency in requirements gathering techniques .

  • Language skills: C1 in French or Dutch and C1 English .

  • Experience with SDLC methodologies and Agile/SAFe frameworks (5+ years) .

  • Experience with BPMN or UML (5+ years) .

  • Ability to create functional specifications and understand system design principles .

  • Availability to work on-site up to 5 days/week .

Should have

  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL .

  • Basic programming knowledge to understand technical requirements .

  • Knowledge of API design .

  • Experience in the public transport sector .

  • Experience with e-commerce solutions .

  • Exposure to mobile or web development (preferably Sitecore CMS) .

  • Strong presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
