Context

A major European transmission system operator is looking for a Software Engineer to join a software engineering team developing AI-centric applications. The consultant will build production-ready AI solutions using LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic workflows while ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement AI-powered applications using LLMs, RAG, and agentic workflows
  • Develop backend services, APIs, and integrations
  • Improve retrieval pipelines with embeddings, chunking, vector search, hybrid search, metadata filtering, and reranking
  • Integrate LLM APIs and AI orchestration frameworks
  • Implement testing, monitoring, evaluation, and observability
  • Define secure AI engineering patterns
  • Collaborate with software engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders
  • Support model and framework selection based on quality, latency, cost, maintainability, and security
  • Troubleshoot AI-related issues including hallucinations, latency, retrieval quality, and cost optimization

Technical skills

Must have

  • Minimum 5 years of Software Engineering experience
  • Minimum 1–2 years integrating LLMs or Generative AI into production applications
  • Strong Python development skills
  • Practical experience with RAG
  • Experience with embeddings and vector search
  • Experience building backend services and APIs
  • Knowledge of AI evaluation and testing
  • Experience with CI/CD and deployment practices
  • Understanding of cloud-native development
  • Security-conscious mindset
  • Fluent English
  • Fluent French or Dutch

  • Strong communication skills
