Enterprise Architect

Context

A leading financial institution is looking for an experienced Enterprise IT Architect to ensure the coherence, sustainability and strategic alignment of its digital channel solutions. The role focuses on mobile applications, web channels and products exposed to third parties, while also covering core banking domains such as cards, payments and accounts, as well as supporting services including e-signature and reporting.

Working closely with Business and IT stakeholders, you will translate business needs into secure, scalable and sustainable functional and technical architectures. Your solutions will comply with enterprise strategy, domain blueprints, architectural principles and internal standards, while considering risks, costs, timelines and technological developments.

The position follows a hybrid working model with 50% on-site presence and 50% homeworking.

Responsibilities

  • Capture business needs and translate them into documented functional and technical solutions.
  • Design solution architectures aligned with enterprise strategy, standards and architectural principles.
  • Apply enterprise data modelling expertise to design secure and robust APIs.
  • Integrate cloud capabilities into architecture designs supporting digital transformation initiatives.
  • Participate in and advise on architectural studies, projects and reusable assets.
  • Define architectures for internal developments and packaged solutions.
  • Promote proposed solutions and obtain validation from relevant Business and IT stakeholders.
  • Support and monitor the implementation of architectural decisions before and after production deployment.
  • Define, document and maintain reference architectures with a strong focus on simplification.
  • Produce project, asset and reference architecture deliverables.
  • Develop IT architecture strategies, urbanization plans and architectural blueprints.
  • Document application, technical and functional architecture viewpoints.
  • Define and maintain architecture rules, principles and good practices.
  • Participate actively in architecture committees.
  • Communicate current-state and target-state architectures across the organization.
  • Monitor technological developments and incorporate relevant innovations into the enterprise architecture.
  • Contribute beyond your primary role whenever necessary to help the Agile team achieve its sprint goals

Technical skills

Must have

  • At least five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong knowledge of functional, technical and application architecture.
  • Knowledge of architectural urbanization principles and rules.
  • Experience with architecture modelling methodologies such as ArchiMate.
  • Strong experience with enterprise data modelling and API design.
  • Experience analysing and defining application architectures.
  • Cloud architecture knowledge and the ability to incorporate cloud capabilities into solution designs.
  • Knowledge of project management principles.
  • Practical experience working with Scrum.
  • A strong Agile mindset based on collaboration, pragmatism, continuous learning and team success.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Fluency in either Dutch or French, with a working knowledge of the other language.
  • Strong communication, networking and negotiation skills.
  • Analytical, accurate and risk-aware approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player.

Should have

  • Experience working on mobile, web or third-party digital channel architectures.
  • Experience designing secure APIs for digital transformation projects.
  • Understanding of core banking domains such as cards, payments and accounts.
  • Ability to communicate complex architectural topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A creative, innovative and forward-looking approach to architecture.
  • Commitment to knowledge sharing, feedback and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional Agile team.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of the cards domain.
  • Experience using the Archi enterprise architecture modelling tool.
  • Experience with support-domain solutions such as e-signature or reporting.
  • Previous experience within a complex banking or financial-services environment.
