Senior Data Architect

Context

A major European energy-sector organization is seeking an experienced Solution / Data Architect to contribute to the evolution of its digital and data landscape. The architect will help design and evolve strategic digital and data platforms while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security standards, governance principles, and business objectives. The Data Platform follows Data Mesh principles, including domain ownership, data as a product, and federated governance, enabling internal customers and domain teams to create and consume scalable data products.

Responsibilities

Steer architecture activities within strategic platform initiatives, from business requirements to technology solutions.
Provide architectural guidance to product management and delivery teams.
Collaborate with product teams to define solutions aligned with enterprise architectural principles.
Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, technology, security, and governance standards.
Design solutions considering integration, application, and data capabilities.
Support Data Product Teams in defining information domains and data products.
Contribute to the definition of Transversal Data Models (TDM) and Canonical Data Models (CDM).
Drive Proofs of Concept to validate architectural decisions and technology choices.
Support product teams and engineers in designing robust and scalable solutions.
Facilitate alignment between business requirements and technology solutions.
Contribute to architecture and data governance best practices, methodologies, standards, and principles.

Technical skills

Must have

Minimum 6 years of experience in a Solution Architect and/or Data Architect role.
Strong experience with data integration architectures across cloud and on-premise environments.
Deep understanding of Enterprise Integration Patterns.
Strong knowledge of API-based integrations.
Strong understanding of event-driven systems.
Experience with messaging solutions and event-driven architectures.
Strong data modelling experience, including conceptual, logical, and canonical data models.
Experience with SAP, S/4HANA, SAP Datasphere, and related technologies.
Experience with IT architecture frameworks and standards such as TOGAF, ArchiMate, or ATAM.
Good understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
Good understanding of microservices architectures.
Ability to work autonomously and deliver results.
Strong collaboration and communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to facilitate discussions and obtain validation of architectural decisions.
Agile and continuous-improvement mindset.
Good level of English and Dutch and/or French.
Ability to work onsite in Brussels two days per week.
For non-EU consultants working in Belgium: valid Belgian work and residence permits.

Should have

Experience with metadata management.
Experience with data catalogues and governance platforms.
Experience contributing to architecture and data governance standards and methodologies.
Strong knowledge-sharing and stakeholder-management capabilities.

Experience with Master Data Management.
Experience with Big Data architectures.
Experience with Data Lakes.

Experience with Collibra Data Catalog.
Experience with Sparx Enterprise Architect.
