Senior Network Engineer

Context

We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join a network team responsible for the deployment, security, maintenance and operations of critical network infrastructure across industrial (OT) and corporate (IT) environments.

The infrastructure supports 24/7 business operations across Belgium, France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland.

The team manages network connectivity from LAN and WAN to data centres and cloud environments, primarily using Cisco technologies.

The role involves supporting infrastructure modernization, cloud connectivity, new data centre deployments and ongoing network operations.

The mission is based between Brussels and Anderlecht, Belgium, for an initial period of 12 months, renewable, with an immediate start.

Full-time on-site presence is required during the first three months. Afterwards, hybrid working may be possible, with three on-site days per week, subject to operational requirements.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain network infrastructure supporting 24/7 business operations.
Support both IT and OT network environments.
Prepare and execute network changes with particular attention to operational continuity.
Participate in the deployment and maintenance of IT infrastructure and network systems.
Support colleagues and operational teams across Belgium and other European locations.
Manage and troubleshoot routing, switching and wireless networking technologies.
Contribute to network infrastructure projects involving data centres, cloud connectivity and WAN modernization.
Collaborate with other ICT teams to support evolving business and application requirements.
Participate in an on-call standby rotation of up to one week in four.

Technical skills

Must have

Senior-level experience in network engineering and operations.
In-depth knowledge of routing and switching protocols, including OSPF, IS-IS, MP-BGP and MST.
Experience with Cisco Wireless technologies.
Strong experience with cloud technologies.
Experience using Python and/or Ansible for network automation.
Knowledge of network monitoring, Network Access Control (NAC) and centralized syslog solutions.
Knowledge of Cisco ACI or Cisco SD-WAN.
Understanding of firewall technologies.
Background in computer science.
Proficiency in Dutch or French and fluency in English.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within technical teams.
Willingness to work across the Brussels and Anderlecht locations.
Own car and ability to travel to Belgian company sites when required.
Willingness to participate in an on-call standby rotation.
Availability to work full-time on-site during the first three months.

Should have

Experience operating network infrastructure in 24/7 environments.
Experience working across both IT and OT environments.
Familiarity with Cisco ASR, ISR, Catalyst and Nexus devices.
Experience with Microsoft Azure networking environments.
Understanding of Check Point and Palo Alto firewall technologies.
Strong change preparation and execution practices.
Good communication skills, teamwork and a proactive approach to supporting colleagues.

Nice to have

Knowledge of TACACS and RADIUS servers.
Experience with Zabbix monitoring.
Experience with Elastic for centralized logging and analysis.
Familiarity with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
