Solution Architect Senior

Context

The company is evolving its existing on-premise infrastructure toward a hybrid private cloud model while modernizing its enterprise integration landscape. The role is responsible for defining the target architecture, leading the migration from IBM Integration Bus (IIB) v9 to IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) v12, and ensuring consistency, scalability, automation, and governance across integration and infrastructure domains.

Responsibilities

Define and own the target architecture for integration platforms (IBM MQ, IIB, ACE)
Design and drive the evolution toward a hybrid private cloud infrastructure
Lead the migration from IIB v9 to ACE v12
Define architecture principles, standards, and reusable patterns
Establish workload placement strategies between on-premise and private cloud environments
Design networking, security, identity, and connectivity models
Drive Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) adoption and automation initiatives
Design containerization and orchestration solutions
Translate business requirements into technical architectures and solution designs
Evaluate solution options and recommend strategic approaches
Support project delivery throughout all phases
Communicate architecture decisions to development and engineering teams
Participate in development activities when required
Support Agile, TDD, and continuous improvement practices
Lead architecture reviews and governance processes
Mentor and coach engineering teams
Ensure quality, consistency, and alignment across initiatives

Technical skills

Must have

Master’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in a Solution Architect or similar role
Strong expertise in IBM MQ, IBM IIB and IBM ACE
Strong Java and ESQL development knowledge
Experience with REST and SOAP web services
Proven experience in enterprise integration architecture
Proven experience in hybrid cloud or private cloud environments
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tools
Knowledge of networking, security, identity and storage architectures
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies
Familiarity with Agile methodologies
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
Dutch and French language proficiency
Professional English proficiency

Should have

Experience with CI/CD pipelines
Strong understanding of IT service management processes
Experience with event-driven architectures
Experience leading technical teams
Strong coaching and mentoring capabilities
Experience in architecture governance

Nice to have

Experience participating in software development activities
Experience supporting project management activities
Experience with large-scale infrastructure transformation programs
Advanced knowledge of private cloud operating models
