Pega System Architect

Context

This role supports the digital transformation strategy through the management and development of transversal solutions based on the Pega platform. The CSGD oversees several business applications—SAMPO, SCARA, SOLUCE, and PROXIM-IT—built upon a shared Pega-based foundation named ORION. The mission specifically focuses on the SAMPO platform, which manages financial aid processes for citizens and businesses. The selected System Architect Pega will join a multidisciplinary Agile team contributing to the continuous evolution, optimization, and scalability of this transversal back-office system.

The consultant must be available to work on-site in Namur three consecutive days per month as part of a hybrid working arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Define the architecture of the SAMPO application in collaboration with the ACM platform and SAMPO application architects.

  • Identify and implement reusable transversal components.

  • Translate functional specifications into Pega technical solutions, proposing and justifying design alternatives.

  • Ensure compliance with Pega best practices and technical architecture.

  • Guarantee system performance, fault tolerance, and reliability.

  • Build and configure functional and technical components (UI, connectors, transformations, jobs, etc.).

  • Conduct unit testing and technical documentation.

  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (daily, sprint planning, retrospective, refinement).

  • Collaborate with functional analysts and product owners to refine business needs.

  • Estimate workloads and proactively report any delays or blocking issues.

Technical skills

Must have

  • Pega System Architect Certification (mandatory).

  • Proven experience as a Pega System Architect (confirmed level – T2).

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Pega version 8 and Pega COSMOS Theme v4.

  • Experience with complex Pega applications (10+ case types) and “layer cake” architecture.

  • Proficiency in REST, SOAP, HTTP, and FTP integrations.

  • Strong command of security models (RBAC, ABAC).

  • Fluency in French (C2).

  • Availability to work on-site in Namur 3 consecutive days per month (mandatory).

Should have

  • Experience in the Belgian public sector.

  • Practical knowledge of Deployment Manager and PDC.

  • Hands-on experience with JIRA in Agile environments.

  • Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience in cross-functional platforms or transversal solution design.

  • Familiarity with UI/UX principles in Pega.

  • Capacity to train or mentor junior team members.

  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery processes.
