Test Engineer – Senior

Context

You will join the Customer Management Tribe, responsible for customer management applications within a complex enterprise environment. The mission focuses on providing functional support for applications and their data, ensuring correct usage and an optimized user experience. You will play a key role in second-line functional support and in safeguarding application quality throughout the development lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on automated testing for web applications.

Responsibilities

  • Create, develop, and maintain test scenarios and test cases in close collaboration with analysts, developers, project leaders, and UAT testers

  • Execute tests during the development phase

  • Identify and design test scenarios for web applications, with a strong focus on SOAP-based services

  • Perform manual (20%) and automated (80%) testing activities

  • Execute regression and non-regression testing to ensure functional integrity

  • Report on quality and progress to the development team

  • Participate in the review and approval of deliverables from other testers (test scenarios, plans, automated tests)

  • Ensure all tests are executed in the appropriate environments and manage the test framework, adapting it where necessary

  • Monitor timelines and testing progress and provide status reporting

  • Document test results and communicate thoroughly with the team leader

  • Analyze and report potential improvements to the development cycle to prevent production issues

Technical skills

Must have

  • Expert knowledge of SOAPUI

  • Very good knowledge of REST web services

  • Very good knowledge of Java, including scripting with Selenium

  • Strong experience in software testing and quality assurance

  • Experience with testing tools and methodologies

  • Basic knowledge of SQL

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work autonomously on multiple tasks

  • Fluent in English

Should have

  • Knowledge of ISTQB standards or certification

  • Experience with Selenium, RQM, or equivalent QA tools

  • Experience with IBM environments, including IBM Integration Bus (IIB)

  • Experience with Java, Spring Framework, Maven

  • Experience with REST APIs and Web Services

  • Fluency in French and/or Dutch

Nice to have

  • Working knowledge of JMeter

  • Experience using JIRA

  • Familiarity with the healthcare, service, or insurance domain

  • Experience with databases such as DB2, MySQL, or SQL Server

  • Proficiency with development tools such as Eclipse, IntelliJ, or RCP
